Grace Community Youth

Grace Community Youth is a the student ministry for youth who are in the 6-12th grades. The Ministry is a part of the overall family of Grace Community Church. We are a church in south Shrveport Louisiana. For more information of Grace Community vist the church website at www.gracehappens.org


We believe at Grace that youth matter. That youth have a important role in the life of the church. Because of this we have special connection points designed to help youth understand their relationship with Christ, how to be growing in a deeper faith and contributing to the body of Christ, and the community in general.

Our Values
We value youth and parents. We have a desire to see youth connect with God as their creator, savior and leader of their life. We up hold that families are central to the development of youth. Through all the programming, events and special trips the scriptures (Bible) are what we hold central to all things.
Growing through activity & process
We believe that growing and learning goes beyond just head knowledge. That it begings with getting active with our faith. Youth learn the best by doing; being apart of something greater than themselves. Faith is strengthened in the act of doing.
Enganged in Media & Culture
Youth live in a world that is consumed by media and emmersed in their own sub-culture. For us to better understand, reach and serve youth we need to be engaged and learners of media and culture.
Created to give
We believe we are created to be creators  and givers of love and generosity. God has given us gifts, talents and abilities to serve and love one another. At Grace we have many areas for youth to discover their God given gifts and use them for His glory.
 
Help in time of crisis & need
We know that life sometimes doesn't go as planned. That there are times of difficulty and crisis. We believe that God has given us the chruch for support and understanding in these times of need. Our Directors
scott and sarahOur youth directors came in May of 2008. Sarah and Scott have been in youth ministry for more than ten years. They love God and love youth. They believe that youth are the church of today and that involving them in ministry is cruicial to their spiritual growth. Mission and reaching out into the community has become central to their on going ministry with youth here in Shreveport and around the world. As you meet them you will quickly see and feel the love they have for Christ and for youth.

Scott and Sarah are into running and being outside. They have ran marathons and triathalons. Backpacking and camping have become a past time they love to do together. Besides hanging out with all the youth at church their children (aka dogs, Casey & Lil' Bit ) keep them busy at home as well along with CJ the cat.
